The MRU Joyful Notes Children’s Choir was founded by Ms. Shana Yang, the conductor of the Mount Royal Zhi-Yin Choir. The focus of this youth ensemble is learning Chinese songs with English songs providing supplementary material. Musical games will be used during rehearsals to make learning enjoyable and fun!
Students will learn to master variations in pitch, intonation, and rhythm, learning the importance of teamwork in singing, introducing children to musical pieces related to classical Chinese poetry, and enhancing their musical literacy and appreciation. Part of the choral experience is rehearsing in the beautiful spaces provided by the MRU Conservatory.
Students will be organized in various groups based on their ages, and each child is required to audition before being eligible to enroll.
Please note that new choir members are required to audition prior to registration. The auditions are taking place on June 25th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and you can sign up for a time using the following Google Form: Audition Sign Up
