How do I save my work?
Students are provided with hard disk space on the MRU network. This means you can save your work on the network. Your network drive will contain 150MB of space unless otherwise requested by your instructor. It is recommended that you keep a backup of your work in more than one place, i.e. in your home directory/network drive as well as on a USB drive or Memory Stick.
Important: Do not save your work onto the C Drive (My Documents) as it will be deleted once you log out.
You can access your H Drive by double clicking on the H Drive icon located on the upper left hand corner on any computer lab PC's desktop:
When your H Drive opens you will see the following screen displaying any and all files & folders within your H Drive.
You can also access your home directory by double clicking on the Computer icon on the desktop just below the H Drive icon mentioned earlier. In the new window that pops up, you can access your H Drive (Home Directory) by double clicking on either of the circled locations below. If you wish to save your work here from within a program, select Save As then your H Drive when prompted by the Save As dialogue box.
Note: If your files will not fit onto your Home Directory, you can save them to a USB drive or burn them onto a DVD or CD-R/RW. All labs have DVD/CD burners within the computers.
