Bachelor of Applied Science - Environmental Science


About the program

Our innovative Bachelor of Applied Science - Environmental Science program provides students with a solid interdisciplinary base in sustainable development-based initiatives, energy efficiency and pollution prevention. Our students can contribute in laboratory, field and research capacities in key environmental industry sectors of air, water and waste management. Six semesters of academic preparation are combined with two paid, work experience semesters allowing our students to apply and develop their skills in "real world" employment settings.

What our students can do for you

Environmental Science students are well prepared for employment now and in the future.

Their coursework includes: chemistry, biology, advanced mathematics, computer technology and business communications.

They offer employers skills in applying biological and chemical techniques to environmental sampling and field analysis; complete site investigations; assess, evaluate and advise on energy, efficiency, sustainability and ecology issues; understand workplace safety protocols; due diligence and Federal/ Provincial government regulatory guidelines; can develop remedial action plans; collect, analyze, interpret data and perform statistical analysis; prepare and present clear, concise consulting reports using professional terminology; design, implement and evaluate Quality Assurance/ Quality Control processes; Complete Life-Cycle assessments; Plan, implement and manage projects. The scheduled dates for student Directed Field Study employment are: May through August for the summer semester and September to December for the fall semester.
