Bachelor of Applied Interior Design

About the program

The Bachelor of Applied Interior Design program provides students with practical skills required of an entry level interior design practitioner. These skills include: space planning, drafting, construction detailing, colour and material selection, furniture specification, effective time management, group effectiveness, computer literacy, information access and retrieval, communication, critical thinking and ethical reasoning.

Student success in this program is attributed to well integrated courses, practical experience, low student to instructor ratio and the collaborative spirit between students, faculty and interior design practitioners.

The program is well received and supported by the Calgary and Canadian design community. This vast community of design professionals includes interior designers, architects, developers, contractors, facilities managers, new home builders, product representatives and retail operations. Students gain valuable exposure and experience within this community through work experience in directed field studies, mentorship, field trips, guest speakers and personal research.
