In August 2024, Prof. Joseph Osuji became The Director of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Mount Royal University. Before that, he was a faculty member at the School for over two decades. He is a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow and holds a visiting scholar appointment with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Dr. Osuji has taught undergraduate and graduate students at several universities and has experience developing and accrediting new educational programs nationally and internationally. He has also supervised graduate students from various universities across different continents. Dr Osuji has authored and contributed chapters on Medical/Surgical Nursing, Research Methods, Pharmacology, and Chronic Disease Management. He has received significant fellowship awards, research nominations, and academic awards for his work

 

Dr. Osuji's research interests are diverse and reflect his commitment to addressing pressing issues in nursing and healthcare. His scholarship projects on the social determinants of health, homelessness, social justice, equity and poverty, soft computing modelling and informatics, teaching and learning processes, and nursing workforce turnover and retention have been supported by funding organizations such as the Carnegie Foundation NY, The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), The Public Health Agency of Canada, and The Canadian Health Sciences Research Foundation (CIHR). His findings have been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and he has shared his insights at numerous local and international conferences. Prof. Osuji's dedication to service is exemplified by his leadership roles in various international NGOs, his positions as Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor for esteemed peer-reviewed journals, his active participation and leadership in professional associations, and his membership on numerous boards of directors.
