Business development and community

How does business development and building community allow you to differentiate your business? Dustin Paisley, the Co-Founder of Local Laundry shares his story.

Dustin Paisley is a connector, creator and community builder.  While at Mount Royal, he led the Enactus team and was a 2014 winner at the JMH $70,000 LaunchPad Pitch Competition. That first attempt at being an entrepreneur proved to be a wonderful learning experience for what lay ahead for Dustin. Following graduation, he left his mark on Mount Royal by laying the foundation for the future Social Innovation Hub at MRU, as the Social Innovation Animator. His skills and a vast network of admirers landed him a role as the Entrepreneurship Manager at ATB Financial, advising local startups and small businesses. Dustin continues to flex his entrepreneurial muscle as a founder at Calgary’s hottest clothing company, Local Laundry Apparel.

We bet you have seen, or maybe even own, one of his YYC sweaters that allow individuals to express pride for their community and city. Local Laundry’s mission is to raise $1 million dollars for local charities from across Canada through the sales of their apparel.

Dustin graduated from MRU’s Bachelor of Business Administration in 2014  and has built a flagship Calgary business, while he also supports growing entrepreneurs every day in his role at ATB. Dustin grants credit to these experiences and the experiential education he received in the classroom for developing his entrepreneurial mindset. This mindset allows Dustin to see opportunities in every facet of his work and leverage tools to create solutions in innovative ways. Today, Dustin continues to be a mentor and an inspiration for Mount Royal students.
