
Eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) is a wireless network service that provides students, staff, and faculty from educational institutions secure access the Internet while visiting other member universities.
Users simply use credentials of their home institution to access the service. However, the level of services provided may vary among institutions and is determined by the hosting university.

Rights and responsibilities
Acceptable use of the eduroam network is determined and governed by hosting university. Your access to MRU’s eduroam service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy for University Computer Resources.
Supported wireless security configuration
Eduroam user login name
Fully qualified user name must be used for the eduroam wireless network login page in the form of user_id@institution_domain_name. For example, user joe_user at MRU will have to use the login name joe_user@mtroyal.ca. Please see example screen shot for XP below.

Visiting users
For most cases, you should be able to access MRU eduroam service similar to how you access the wireless service at your home institution except that the SSID is "eduroam" without the quotes and you must follow the login user naming convention described above.

MRU users
It is recommended that MRU users configure their laptops to connect to eduroam at MRU before travelling abroad.
The setup is the same as for MRsecure wireless service in MRU except the following. Please refer to its support page.
For your daily wireless network use at MRU, you should use our MRsecure wireless service as the eduroam service may be more restrictive and is provided for authorized visiting users from other member institutions.
