Mount Royal University (MRsecure) Setup Guide

Mount Royal is in the process of phasing out their current wireless network, MRCwave.

Students – Once you’ve changed your password for the computer labs via MYMRU, it will work for the wireless network.
Faculty and staff – You will have to change your passwords via MYMRU prior to connecting to the new MRsecure wireless network.

Looking for quicker access and a more secure connection? Use the wireless network without having to login each time by setting up "MRsecure". “MRsecure" uses WPA/WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access) Enterprise and 802.1x for an encrypted and secure wireless connection.

Important: Get updated drivers for your wireless card.

Setup documents for MRsecure: 

• Windows XP – follow these instructions to set it up manually
• Windows Vista – follow these instructions to set it up manually

WPA Compliant Wireless Cards

There are numerous wireless adapters available from the various manufacturers. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all these adapters will function properly on the network. However, majority of newer wireless adapters should be WPA compliant.

The following is a list of cards that should work on the "MRsecure" network. If you have one that is not listed or are experiencing connectivity problems with the MR Wireless network, please consult your manufacturer for a new driver or firmware upgrade for your adapter. You can also contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
