What makes this program different? Why is it special?
The field of nursing is changing rapidly and nursing education must do so as well. This unique-to-Mount-Royal program prepares graduates for the full scope of nursing practice - for today and for tomorrow.

Who can take the program? And when can I apply?
The program is open to all students who meet the entrance criteria. For information about admission requirements and the application process, visit Admissions.
The MRBN currently only has a Fall intake. We typically accept applications between December 1 and March 1.
Will the Mount Royal BN prepare me to take my RN exam?
Yes. Successful completion of the program qualifies you to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) licensing exam. The CRNE is run solely through CARNA please contact them directly for further details at http://www.nurses.ab.ca/Carna/index.aspx

Are scholarships and financial aid available?

If you would like to transfer into the Mount Royal BN program, you must have a transfer assessment completed by Mount Royal University before you can be admitted. Because Mount Royal's program is specialized, there may be a limit to the number of courses you may transfer to the new program. You will also need to complete a number of courses at Mount Royal in order to meet residence requirements. Transfer credit will automatically be assessed once you have been officially accepted into the program.
Information for Nursing alumni
No. Your degree was conferred by Athabasca University and your parchment will not change.
Because each student's situation is unique, you must speak with an academic advisor to map out the best route for you to complete your degree.
The courses you completed under the diploma program will be assessed for transfer under regular transfer arrangements. Due to the changing nature of the nursing profession, the currency of your courses is important, and your courses must have been completed within seven years of admission to the Mount Royal Bachelor of Nursing program.
Athabasca University offers a post-RN BN program that meets the needs of nurses who graduate with a diploma and are now interested in obtaining a BN.
