We are a Changemaker Campus.

The Institute for Community Prosperity is proud to be part of the Changemaker Campus community at Mount Royal University, a designation recognized by Ashoka Canada that recognizes the university’s commitment to redefining the role of higher education as a catalyst for social impact. This designation connects us with a broader network of national and global Changemaker Campuses, all dedicated to fostering a culture of social innovation where students across various disciplines are inspired and equipped to become agents of change within their communities.

A Changemaker Campus operates in socially and environmentally conscious ways to address local and global challenges. The designation recognizes investment in the continuous development of individuals who see the value of higher education in making the world a better place.

The designation resulted from an extensive selection process that included a 360-degree campus scan, a site visit and three 70-minute panel interviews. It marks the culmination of a broader MRU Changemaker Campus initiative that began in 2015 with the development of the Changemaker Campus Roadmap.

In 2017, MRU celebrated becoming a designated Changemaker Campus with AshokaU. In 2023, we recommitted to this designation by renewing our status. Changemaker Campuses are the global leaders in social innovation and changemaking in higher education, and represent a vision of what education and univerisites can be.

I am so happy that MRU is an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus. Please know how very much I value the Institute for making that happen. I think it is incredible to have a structure like Ashoka where we can create a culture and discipline of collaboration at MRU.
