Naturopathic medicine offers a unique approach to health care that blends modern science with traditional healing practices. It’s rooted in both evidence-based and time-tested methods to support the body’s natural ability to heal.

Unlike conventional care that often focuses solely on symptom management, naturopathic medicine is patient-centred and holistic. It looks at the whole person, considering physical, mental, emotional and environmental factors to uncover the root cause of symptoms, conditions or injuries.

With an emphasis on lifestyle medicine, clinical nutrition and regenerative therapies, naturopathy empowers patients to take an active role in their healing journey and long-term wellness.

Treatments:

Regenerative injection therapies:

  • Prolotherapy: An injection-based treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing response to strengthen and repair injured ligaments and tendons.
  • Neural therapy: An injection-based treatment that targets autonomic nervous system dysfunction by injecting local anesthetics into scars, trigger points or nerve pathways to restore nerve function and relieve chronic pain.
  • Ozone therapy: An oxygen-ozone mixture injected near the affected disc (herniation or protrusion for example) to reduce inflammation, relieve nerve compression and aids in pain relief and functional recovery. Only offered at Grassroots Naturopathic Medicine.
  • Treatment examples: Target ligaments for knee instability to help with knee arthritis or partial tears in ankle ligaments. Or SI joint laxity that a chiropractor has to keep correcting.

Clinical nutrition: Personalized dietary plans to support overall health, address specific health conditions and boost the immune system.

Supplementation: Personalized supplement protocols and advice, plus guidance on supplement use for athletes.

Lab testing: Test for vitamin deficiencies, anemia, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular health panels, hormonal imbalances, heavy metals and food intolerances.

Dr. Tricia Breckon

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Tricia Breckon is a Naturopathic Doctor with over 10 years of clinical experience, focusing on musculoskeletal health, regenerative injection therapies, and integrative care. She works with patients ranging from active individuals to those navigating injury or chronic pain, helping them recover, build resilience, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Her approach extends beyond the site of injury to address the underlying factors that influence healing and performance. She provides prolotherapy and other injection therapies alongside naturopathic care focused on hormonal health, including perimenopause and menopause, as well as sleep, mental health, digestion, and skin concerns.

Dr. Breckon holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science (Honours), and a Master’s degree with a focus in health research and epidemiology. She graduated at the top of her class in both her undergraduate and naturopathic medical training, receiving academic excellence recognition in each.

A former varsity track and field athlete, she understands the demands of training, recovery, and maintaining long-term health. She brings this perspective into her clinical work, supporting patients in staying active, capable, and well at every stage.

Outside of clinical practice, she stays busy with her family and three active children involved in competitive swimming and climbing. When not at the clinic, you’ll often find her skiing in the winter or camping in the summer.
