Updated vaccination and rapid testing requirements

Sept. 10, 2021

The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly in Alberta and some post-secondary institutions have made significant changes to their protocols as recently as today. To date, Mount Royal University has implemented mandatory masking, vaccine declarations and a rapid testing program. Mount Royal may soon be compelled to require proof of vaccination in order for anyone to come to our campus. This is increasingly becoming the norm in Alberta.

As of Sept. 10, 96.2 per cent of our campus community is already self-declared as either fully or partially vaccinated.

The University will be conducting a random audit of vaccination declarations. Anyone who has declared they are fully or partially vaccinated and is selected as part of the audit, will be asked to provide proof of vaccination.

Those who have declared as unvaccinated or have refused to declare are required to undergo rapid testing. Instructions will be sent by email early next week on how to pick up rapid testing program kits and submit the results.

We continue to balance returning to an in-person learning environment while managing the risks of COVID-19. The health and safety of our campus community is our top priority.
