Correia’s appointment followed a close competition between seven contestants.
We caught up with Correia ahead of the Stampede for an update on her position.
Tell us how your passion for agriculture and the Calgary Stampede began.
Growing up in Calgary, it wasn’t long before I asked my dad if I could start riding horses — and I instantly fell in love. My passion for agriculture began at the age of nine when I joined my local 4-H Club. Living in the Calgary region, 4-H and the Calgary Stampede go hand in hand, and the Stampede quickly became a core part of my youth. For years, my horse and I trained tirelessly, always aiming to win that coveted 4-H buckle with the CS brand embossed on it. Those experiences built the foundation of my deep connection to both agriculture and the Calgary Stampede.
What has been your biggest takeaway so far in your role as Stampede Princess?
The biggest takeaway from my time as Stampede Princess so far is that community is everything. The support, passion and countless opportunities to engage more deeply with our local community have shown me the true strength that exists within our city. It’s a reminder that the Calgary Stampede is not just a celebration — it’s a community builder.
How has your education at Mount Royal helped prepare you for this?
I’m honoured that my role with the Calgary Stampede is being used as my internship opportunity. Acting as a PR professional (ambassador) for the Stampede means I’ve been able to apply the skills I’ve learned throughout my degree in real time. It’s been incredible to bring my education to life while also networking with professionals and community members alike. This experience has allowed me to grow academically and professionally while representing something I’m truly passionate about.
How do you find time to balance being the 2025 Stampede Princess with your studies along with everything else you do?
Balancing my role as Stampede Princess with school, volunteering and caring for my own animals definitely comes with its challenges. I’m very grateful that Mount Royal has been so supportive, which has allowed me to remain on the honour roll while also giving back to the community. Growing up in agriculture, I was taught early on that life balance is essential and that hard work always pays off. I carry those values with me today — and although it’s a busy life, it’s one I’m incredibly proud of.
How did your professors and fellow classmates react to finding out that you were going to be 2025 Stampede Royalty?
From the moment I announced I was running for Stampede Royalty, the support from my faculty and fellow students was overwhelming. My professors have been especially encouraging — and it’s been amazing to see them, along with many classmates, following my journey on social media. Being a Mount Royal student has truly played a key role in my success, whether through conversations about public speaking, digital safety or polishing my PR skills. As a born-and-raised Calgarian, it means so much to have my school behind me in this dream role.
