I am an energy and environmental economist with a strong interest in climate change, energy policy, renewable energy and AI and its systemic impact on several domains of our lives.
I earned my first degree in Energy Economics from the University of Calgary and completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at Royal Roads University.
I believe we humans learn when we are engaged and learn better when we are engaged through interest, curiosity and delight than in response to some demand or requirement- such as, challenges, tests and exams. Learning in response to challenge often requires us to let go of old assumptions about ourselves, the situation, or the subject matter so that we can fully engage. With this in mind, I have designed my courses with a greater emphasis on learning than on testing. My goal is to keep you engaged and inspired; in return, I encourage you to stay curious and to approach the course as an opportunity to broaden your perspective, rather than simply as a requirement to fulfill.
Previously, I served as an advisor to Alberta’s climate change panel and contributed to the design of the province’s carbon tax policy. I am currently a lecturer and lab instructor for economics courses at Mount Royal University. My current interests include systems analysis, cybernetics, AI, golfing, and hiking.
