Building understanding
Introductory EDIA awareness and skills training
The Office of Community and Belonging, in partnership with Human Resources, the Office of the Provost and the Mount Royal Faculty Association (MRFA), is pleased to introduce a newly revised version of the broad-based Introductory EDIA Awareness and Skills Training course for all employees.
MRUBelong: Building Community Through Inclusion represents the next step in our shared learning journey. The course explores the many ways we can strengthen community and belonging through an understanding of intersectional equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and related concepts. Through interactive learning activities, including real-world scenarios, reflection exercises, and empowerment strategies, the course builds both individual capacity and ultimately collective community at MRU.
All MRU employees are encouraged to complete this training. MRFA members are required to complete the course under the terms of the MRFA Collective Agreement. Members who completed the previous course, Introduction to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Creating a Respectful Workplace, are not required to complete this newly revised version.
MRU recognizes that we are all at different stages in our learning journey. This course serves as a baseline for developing common ground from which we can continue our individual and collective learning journeys.
This course builds on the work that has come before and that continues to take place across campus. To explore advanced training opportunities that build on this foundation, visit our Education and tools webpage. It includes a comprehensive framework of educational programs on various topics and resources.
