The annual Career Expo at Mount Royal University will be held online this year and now offers three days of sessions to support job seekers.

Jan. 25 and 26 will feature presentations and panels on critical career skills that are required in all industries and what the future of work looks like in a post-COVID world.

Jan. 27 features a final networking event and the signature Career Fair where MRU students and alumni can meet directly with employers who are looking to hire.

“More than 50 companies from a variety of sectors will be participating,” says Sarah Imran, director of Career Services.

Students and alumni have the opportunity to participate in pre-event sessions taking place from Jan. 13 to 22 to learn how to stand out in a virtual job interview, improve their resumé and cover letter and enhance their LinkedIn profile. Participants will also have the chance to practise using the event app, Pheedloop, to make sure they are ready and comfortable meeting employers online.

“The preliminary workshops will help students and alumni get ready and cover topics from developing a personal brand to virtual networking and interviews, and more,” Imran says.

“We want students to go into the three days of the Career Expo confident and having developed clarity around their skills, experiences and interests so that they can present themselves in the best possible light.”

“MRU has some great programs and produces some great students,” says Mike Derry from Canadian Natural Resources Limited.

“MRU continues to partner with industry and is constantly adapting their programs to ensure the students have the skill sets we are looking for. We have hired many MRU students over the years and look forward to continuing that trend.”
