Faculty training sessions relating to the faculty collective agreement.
The following training is offered for Mount Royal faculty, Chairs, Academic Directors, and Associate Deans. All training is offered in person; virtual remote participation is not available. 2025-2026 training schedule
Faculty annual reports workshop (August)
Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 – 10:00 - 11:50 a.m.
Jointly presented by Academic Affairs and the Mount Royal Faculty Association, this faculty training workshop is on the procedures for annual reports and on utilizing the F-180* reporting system.
*Please note: This will be the last training workshop on the F-180 reporting system. The software will be decommissioned this year and a new process will be developed for Winter 2026.

Tenure, promotion and permanency workshop (August)
Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 – 10:00 - 11:50 a.m.
Jointly presented by Academic Affairs and the Mount Royal Faculty Association, and in accordance with Articles 9.1.9, 9.2.11 and 9.3.5 of the faculty collective agreement, this training is required for those serving in their first year on any tenure, promotion or permanency committees. Three sessions will be offered in the academic year but participants are required to attend only one.

Sabbatical Leave Application Workshop: How to maximize your application for Sabbatical Leave
Friday, Sep. 12, 2025 – 10:30 - 11:50 a.m.
Are you interested in applying for a sabbatical? In this session, we will discuss the sabbatical application process and share recommendations on how to prepare a compelling application.
Two sessions will be offered in the 2025-2026 academic year but participants are encouraged to attend only one session. These sessions are not mandatory.

Peer evaluation of teaching (September)
Friday, Sep. 17, 2025 – 10:00 - 11:20 a.m.
This workshop is supported by the Academic Development Centre.
In accordance with Article 28.5.3 of the faculty collective agreement, all faculty members serving as peer evaluators must complete training prior to conducting evaluations. Per Article 18.5.2, "Evaluators shall be Tenured Employees." This training is offered twice per year (September and January).

Jointly presented by Academic Affairs and the Mount Royal Faculty Association, this training workshop for Chairs and Academic Directors is on contract faculty hiring and reappointment best practices, and workload allocation.
This is one of 2 sessions offered in the 2025-2026 academic year. Participants are only encouraged to attend one session.

Promotion Application Workshop - Part 1: Overview of Application Process

Jointly presented by Academic Affairs and the Mount Royal Faculty Association, the Promotion Application Workshops are open to faculty members who are considering applying for promotion to the rank of Professor. Part 1 will focus on a review of the initial stages of the promotion application process, e.g. choosing reviewers, picking which stream to apply, etc.
Both sessions are optional, but highly recommended if you are considering submitting an application for 2026-2027
