Admission Requirements

Indigenous Applicants

You will be considered an Indigenous applicant if you are a Canadian who is a Status Indian/First Nations, Non-Status Indian/First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.

Indigenous applicants will be assessed for admission under the applicable admission category (high school, mature, post-secondary); however there is additional information relevant to Indigenous applicants available below.


Indigenous Admission Targets
Special consideration for designated seats may be available through a program specific Indigenous admission target. To qualify for this category the applicant must:

  1. Self-identify as an Indigenous applicant on the Application for Admission
  2. Meet the definition of an Indigenous applicant
  3. Meet the minimum admission requirements as indicated in the general admission requirements for Mount Royal University as well as any program level admission requirements

Designated seats will be filled by Indigenous applicants on a competitive basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply during Early Admission October 1 - February 1. Any unfilled designated seats will be released on July 15 to students applying under the general admission requirements.


Iniskim Centre
The Iniskim Centre is an academic support centre for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students. It was created specifically to increase enrolment and retention of Indigenous students at Mount Royal. While increasing awareness of distinct cultures, history and protocols, Iniskim Centre offers a wide range of programs and services.
