The Spirit of Giving to Those in Need
Once again in 2016, Sociology Professor Nancy Doetzel mobilized her students to help Mount Royal's United Way campaign. In four classes, spanning from introductory to advanced, students undertook initiatives that included bottle drives; bake sales; giving up spending on coffee, snacks, meals, and alcoholic beverages for a week; doing odd jobs such as babysitting and taking care of pets; and even playing music for donations. The result was over $2000, a major contribution towards reaching the institutional goal of raising $50,000. The Faculty of Arts applauds these wonderful students and their inspirational professor.
