I have been working for MRU for more than 19 years, and am currently the Recruiter for the School of Nursing & Midwifery. I am responsible for facilitating the hiring for both full-time and contract faculty, as well as staff positions. A good part of my position is the collaborative effort with fellow staff and faculty members to find the best nurses to fill the clinical instructor needs for our programs. Clinical Instructors are extremely important to the nursing program in their support of our students; from the first clinical in a student's first year of nursing, when students may need extra support, to the last clinical course in their final year, when students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking, current theory and practical knowledge in their transition to autonomy. Our clinical instructors are an invaluable part of the BN program and of our students journey. The nurses that I recruit to these roles are extremely dedicated and passionate individuals who truly care about shaping the next generation of nurses. I feel honoured to work with them, and with the entire team here at MRU.
