Placement testing

Applicants are required to complete placement testing to determine the appropriate level of study in the LEAP program.  Testing is currently offered in person at MRU on a weekly schedule.

All students should email mrulanguages@mtroyal.ca to organize your placement tests after you have applied to the program. 

TESTING ON CAMPUS

Students located in Calgary will be sent the dates for upcoming testing sessions. 

TESTING OUTSIDE OF CANADA

International students outside of Canada will be set up for the online test and will be sent a confirmation when this is ready.

Step 1: Activate your MRU account


Step 2: Use your MRU email to send the message below to mrulanguages@mtroyal.ca. The message in your email will be: I have successfully activated my MRU account.

 


What you need to know: (online testing for International Students)

There are three placement tests that you need to complete:

  • Grammar
  • Writing 
  • Speaking

Step 3: Log into D2L to do your Grammar Placement test.


Step 4: Log into D2L to do your Writing Placement test.


Step 5: Sign up for a Speaking Test time. Click on a time slot in the calendar below to book your time.

To find the Google Meet link for your appointment, go to your Google Calendar and click on your appointment time for the link.

Note: In order to view the appointment calendar, you must use Google Chrome as the browser and be logged in to your @mtroyal Gmail account. 

Domestic Student Funding (For SPRING 2024)

Low-income Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees may be eligible to apply for funding through the Foundational Learning Assistance Program from the Alberta Government.  Learn how to apply for funding.
