The LEAP program is not designed for students with beginner-level English. We do not require official test scores to document your English level, however, students must be at a minimum CLB 4 (all strands) or IELTS 3.5 to begin the LEAP program. The LEAP office will conduct placement testing to determine your English level and eligibility for the program.

Upcoming Semester Dates

  • Winter 2026: January 6 - April 13, 2026
  • Spring 2026: May 4 - August 17, 2026
  • Fall 2026: September 3 - December 9, 2026

 

Application Deadline for Students Requiring Study Permits 

We welcome applications from all international students, including those on-shore and off-shore, for our Fall, Winter, and Spring intakes.

Due to the timing of study permit processing, we have specific application deadlines for students who need a study permit to attend LEAP. This applies to both off-shore international students and those new to MRU who will need to re-apply for a study permit. 

Application Deadlines:

  • Fall Semester: April 1
  • Winter Semester: August 1
  • Spring Semester: January 1

Applications submitted after these deadlines will automatically be deferred to the next available term. We will continue to accept applications from students who do not require a study permit until the program closes for admission.
