Update on 2025-26 Provincial Budget
Following the provincial budget announcement on Feb. 27, we want to update you on some of the key highlights for Mount Royal University. In the new budget for 2025-26:
- Campus Alberta base grant: Unchanged
- Capital and maintenance renewal funding: Unchanged
- Targeted enrollment expansion (TEE) programs: Increased for planned enrolment growth
- Students with Disabilities funding: Unchanged
- Health Workforce Action Plan (HWAP) funding: Unchanged
- Mental health support funding: Unchanged
We will consult further with the Ministry on the specifics of the budget and implications and opportunities for MRU.
Over the past number of years, MRU has continued to improve efficiency, reduce costs and develop other sources of revenue. MRU (and the Alberta post-secondary system generally) currently performs well with respect to cost and other metrics compared to other provinces.
Advanced education is key to Alberta’s economic future, and we look forward to working with the province on what opportunities this funding presents for MRU and our future students.
Thank you for your commitment to the success of our students and to MRU.
