Penalties for non-compliance with FOIP
Section 92 of the Act allows for fines to a maximum of $10,000 for:
- collecting, using of disclosing personal information in violation of section 2 of the Act
- making a false statement or misleading the Information and Privacy Commissioner
- obstructing the Information and Privacy Commissioner
- failing to comply with an order made by the Information and Privacy Commissioner
- destroying, altering, falsifying, concealing any records subject to this Act or directing another person to do so, with the intent of evading a request for access to records
- gaining or attempting to gain unauthorized access to personal information
