Human Security Worldwide: Building a Culture of Peace

How do you position and involve yourself among the increasingly diverse communities for the betterment of our society? How can we create solidarity to build a culture of peace in our community?

The keynote address and panel discussion event, "Human Security Worldwide - Building A Culture of Peace in Our Community," will address societal issues that involve all of our community members and encourage dialogue among speakers and audiences to raise awareness of our shared goal, building a culture of peace in our community.

This event invites prominent speakers who are active in international and national-wide arenas as global citizens. The keynote speaker is Cesar Jaramillo, the National Director of Project Ploughshares, a prominent peace organization in Canada. The panelists include Rabbi Shaul Osadchey (President of the Calgary Council of Christians and Jews), Tony Meers (National director of a lay-Buddhist organization, Soka Gakkai International -Canada,), Bev Delong (Chairperson of Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons), and Professor Mark Ayyash (Director of Peace Studies Initiative of Mount Royal University).

The 2020 Vision for Humanity is an independent network of Calgarians working for the abolition of nuclear weapons and toward a profound change in the conditions that lead human beings to produce such weapons. They promote awareness of the challenges to human security worldwide and how we can meet those challenges. The 2020 Vision for Humanity Symposium has been held annually in Calgary since 2012.
