Dr. Leslie Robertson received a PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, and an MEd in Staff Development from The University of Calgary, and a BEd from the University of Manitoba. Leslie has worked for several years as an educator and administrator primarily in Alberta. Of particular note, is her contributions to the Calgary Board of Education by developing, co-developing and implementing innovative programming for student-centred learning and staff development. For 11 years she was the principal and instructional leader of an Arts-Centred learning school focussing on cross-curricular, concept-based learning through the Arts. Her modelling, mentorship and leadership created opportunities for teachers to explore creative and effective teaching strategies, involving inquiry planning and rich task design. Her strength is rooted in her dedication and firm belief in inclusion and in her ability to embrace the evolving pursuit of best practice to meet the changing needs of all community members. As such, she established educational liaisons with the home, business and artistic communities, pursued professional learning opportunities at provincial and international conferences and co-created leadership development programming and sessions for the Calgary Board of Education. Reciprocity is the integral element of Dr. Robertson’s educational philosophy~ walking alongside learners, listening to their stories of experience, goals and visions; empowering the storyteller, thereby fostering mutual growth and understanding. Leslie loves listening to jazz/blues but dancing freely in whatever space she can find speaks to her spirit.
