After receiving her doctorate, Carol moved to California for post-doctoral studies at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies (La Jolla, CA). She spent five years as an Assistant Professor at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, ON before moving to Mt. Royal in 2010. Carol teaches human anatomy, histology, embryology and reproductive physiology in addition to running a developmental neurobiology research lab.
Carol is focused on decolonization of science as a means to create space for Indigenous ways of knowing and learning in post-secondary institutions. Working alongside Piikani Knowledge Holder Harley Bastien, she has co-developed a third-year Biology course (mru.ca/commonground) that uses relational and experiential land-based learning to explore and integrate both western and Indigenous science.
