Get involved
For those interested in getting involved in work with the Office of Community and Belonging, here are the current opportunities we have available:

Community of Practice
The Community of Practice (CoP) aims to offer a safe space that facilitates peer-to-peer communication, collaborative relationship building, meaningful exchanges and knowledge sharing. CoP is a network of Mount Royal University (MRU) leaders who are committed to building an inclusive and welcoming campus that embeds the principles of belonging and community engagement. Read the CoP Terms of Reference.
The CoP is a safe space to:
- Exchange ideas and resources
- Have open discussion in exploration of issues
- Review recent resources, research and ideas
- Share best practices
- Provide peer support
- Collaborate on projects and initiatives
Sharing an interest in inclusion, we come together as a community to recognize the work being done at MRU and to explore what we can do as a group to support and enhance belonging on campus.

Inclusion Week
Inclusion Week at MRU serves as a catalyst for important conversations and education on equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. The event creates a safe space for diverse topics and presentations that might not otherwise be shared, fostering an environment free from discrimination. The past sessions underscore the need for adaptability in teaching and research roles, emphasizing that inclusion is an ongoing journey across various professional contexts beyond community advocacy. These insights highlight MRU’s commitment to a sense of belonging towards accessibility and is a welcoming environment free from discrimination and systemic racism.
