The Office of Institutional Research and Planning (OIRP) conducts research and assessment of programs, courses, teaching, and special projects. As well, OIRP administers or coordinates all institutional surveys (CUSC, NSSE, GOS, NCHA, GFUS) and provides the necessary analysis and reporting to internal partners and external organizations. The main software used to conduct surveys at Mount Royal University is Qualtrics.
OIRP also coordinates the surveys that evaluate the Student Perception of Teaching (SPoT) for all courses in each of the four semesters of the academic year. OIRP ensures that each semester, all courses are available for student feedback and that all responses are kept strictly confidential. Student responses are aggregated for reporting, and comments are reviewed to comply with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, which removes any personal identifiers from the final report.
OIRP is also a key partner in the development of strategic plans across the institution. Indeed, OIRP supports the development of the University Strategic Plan and Academic Plan as well as other key institutional strategic plans.
