Information for students

Faculty and Staff can submit referrals for students they might be worried about and might benefit from support. If you are contacted by a Student Support Specialist, know that you are not in trouble. Someone has noticed that you may need some additional support and/or guidance. If you have been referred by a Faculty and/or Staff member you might see an email from us titled “You’ve been referred to Early Support”. Know that you can opt-out of the support opportunity and let us know that you are fine. Or, you can reply and work with us on something you might need some additional support with. If you are offered an appointment, please feel free to read over the team bios and see who might be the best fit for you! Keep in mind that working with a member of the Early Support team does not impact your academic record or transcript. Students are also able to refer other students as well if you are able to provide their full name and/or student ID.

Some examples of when might you want to access Early Support:

  • Information and Referral to resources and services both on and off campus
  • Needing an exploratory conversation to help identify any challenges, issues and concerns that may be impacting any area of your well-being
  • Feeling lost and not knowing where/who to go to for help
