Student Fees
Below is a general breakdown of the mandatory fees Mount Royal students should expect in an academic year. For more detailed information on fees, see the Tuition Fee Schedule.
Special ProgramsAviation
Flight training fees are assigned to the flight training courses over the two-year program. Flight training fees are subject to change depending on operating costs for aircraft and related services and are due immediately upon registration. Contact the program directly for more information.
Bachelor of Interior Design
The Bachelor of Interior Design has a unique tuition and fee structure due to cost of delivery. This includes a program fee assessed by term based on the student's full-time or part-time status. As well, the tuition for this program is assessed at an additional $50 per course.
Bachelor of Communications, Broadcast Media Studies
The Bachelor of Communications, Broadcast Media Studies has a unique tuition and fee structure due to cost of delivery. This includes a program fee assessed by term based on the student's full-time or part-time status. As well, the tuition for this program is assessed at an additional $50 per course.
Bachelor of Science, Chemistry
The Bachelor of Science, Chemistry has a unique tuition and fee structure due to cost of delivery. This includes a program fee assessed by term based on the student's full-time or part-time status.
General Fees
The payment of all general fees is mandatory for all students. The general fees cover the following:
Students enrolled in programs with 90% or more courses delivered online are exempt from this fee.
Students enroled in three or more full* courses are:
- covered for all accidents on a 24-hour basis for the course term.
Students enroled in less than three full* courses coverage applies only:
- while such students are in or on University buildings or premises for the purpose of attending classes or
- while they are in attendance at or participating in any University activity approved and supervised by a proper authority of the University.

Similar to other post-secondary institutions, Mount Royal assesses a student services fee that directly supports services vital to students' academic and personal success:
Students enrolled in programs with 90% or more courses delivered online or in an Occupational Program are exempt from this fee.
Students' Association Fees
All Students' Association Fees are mandatory fees collected by Mount Royal University on behalf of the Students Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU). These include:
- subsidized events and entertainment
- emergency student loans
- Free breakfast
- Good Food Boxes
- Peer Support Centre
- Native Student Centre
- Cultural Mosaic Centre Global Citizen Centre
- Sustainability Centre
- Pride Centre
- Student Outreach and Safewalk
All eligible students taking nine credits or more in each semester of registration are enrolled in the SAMRU extended Health and Dental Plan. This fee is distinct from the fee charged for the Student Accident Insurance Plan.
Eligible students who have comparable health and/or dental coverage elsewhere may apply to waive benefits. Each student is given an opportunity to waive benefits under the health and/or dental plan(s) each year. All waiver forms must be completed through the Student Benefits Plan Office or through the Online Opt-Out and must be received by the applicable deadline for the semester period of enrolment.
