UPass (updated May 1, 2023)

No UPass is availbale for Spring or Summer

Calgary Transit does not provide MRU with UPass stickers or access to the MyFare app for Spring and Summer semesters. The next time the UPass will be available is September 1, 2023.

How to get the UPass in the My Fare app

You can download the My Fare app from either the Google Play Store or the App Store. You will then need to set up your MyID account through the My Fare app. The Fall UPass is available after September 1 and the Winter UPass is available after January 1. You will not be able to access the UPass before these dates.

  1. Click on the menu (the "hamburger" button with three lines) in the top right corner of the app.
  2. Select "Profile" and then "New Account."
  3. Click on "Log in using Calgary MyID" and scroll down and click on the "Create a myID account" button.
  4. Fill in the form to create your MyID account. You must use your @mtroyal.ca email address when you create your account. Read and accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

A verification code will be sent to your @mtroyal.ca email address -- this may take some time, as Calgary Transit is verifying your account and eligibility for the UPass.

  5. Once you have received the verification code, enter it into the My Fare app. It can take 24-48 hours for the UPass to appear in your Ticket Wallet.

How to use your UPass

Once the UPass is in your Ticket Wallet, select it and tap the "Activate" button.

  • When you're on the bus, face your activated UPass at the onboard scanner, or if the operator asks, show it to them.
  • When you're on a CTrain, if asked, show your activated UPass to the Peace Officer, if requested.
