To comply with the provincial government’s proof of vaccination requirements, Mount Royal will use digital vaccination verification through the MRU Now safety app. Students and employees* are required to prove their vaccination status by Oct. 4, 2021.

Using and downloading the app

If you do not already have MRU Now, download it. It is available free for both Android and iOS phones.

If you already have MRU Now on your mobile phone, you will need to update the App in your Preferences/About screen. The new version includes a vaccination verification button.

If you do not have a smartphone, or are unable to submit your proof of vaccination using the MRU Now app, you can use the web portal from a laptop or desktop computer. Read more about this option.

Proof of vaccination

Step-by-step instructions for uploading your proof of vaccination can be found online.

Vaccine verification

Once submitted, your proof of vaccination will be verified by an employee trained to review this information. Upon verification, your status will be updated in the app and available to you as a demonstration of your vaccine status to present as required.

Rapid testing

Those participating in the rapid testing program should become vaccinated as soon as possible to meet mandatory vaccination deadlines. Note that non-compliance with the rapid testing program results in an immediate unpaid leave of absence, with multiple recurrences leading to termination of employment.

Take these next steps for vaccine verification as soon as possible and no later than Oct. 4 to further help the University respond to Alberta’s state of public health emergency and meet mandatory provincial requirements. The vast majority of those in the MRU community are vaccinated and we appreciate your dedication to this process. Thank you for doing your part.

*Employees who are unable to be vaccinated due to a medical exemption will need to submit a workplace accommodation request form and provide supporting medical documentation to Wellness at Work.
