This monthly series looks at topics about healthy relationships. Through facilitated discussion, we will unpack components to promote healthy relationships.
Sex Ed/Consent
Feb. 14, 2022 | 1 - 2:30 p.m.
This session discusses sex ed, including topics of pleasure, consent, and communication in solo and partnered sexual escapades. Feel free to bring any questions you may have to this session to discuss anonymously or as a group!
Managing Breakups
March 22, 2022 | 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Learn how to manage that icky feeling from rejection and breakups. In this session, we will focus on strategies to manage rejection and breakups, and discuss why they are so triggering for us.

This year, the Survivor Love Letter campaign will be offered in the form of buttons! Pin-back buttons are frequently used to communicate the issues that we care about. Come create wearable art that promotes messages or imagery of care and support to survivors of sexual violence in this button-making workshop.
This workshop will be facilitated by students Logan Brisson and Kendra Varga with professional support available.

The Stepping Up workshop is a relationship violence prevention program open to all students at Mount Royal University. Bringing together students of all backgrounds, ages and genders, Stepping Up aims to break down barriers to healthy relationships. Interactive activities help participants identify the differences between healthy, unhealthy and abusive behaviours, and where to turn if they or someone they know needs help.
The Stepping Up Workshop consists of two key components:
- Peer-facilitated workshop sessions
- Participant community projects following the workshop sessions

Breakups are hard; they can be incredibly destabilizing and disorienting. This one-hour session will look at different topics surrounding relationships and breakups and some of the common impacts that a breakup can have on a person's wellbeing, as well as identify some skills that can help manage these impacts.

The Kind Men Campaign is an ongoing roundtable discussion offered in person, every month to students attending Mount Royal University. The next discussion will take place March 24 at 11 a.m. with the location sent closer to the date.
The purpose of this group is for men and male identified folks to come together to have conversations around healthy masculinity, and the importance of respectful attitudes towards all gender identities. Participants will engage with one another to discuss issues of manhood, male socialization, and role they can have in preventing gender-based violence.

The Inquiring Mind workshop increases awareness of mental health, reduces the stigma of mental illnesses, and provides resources to maintain positive mental health and increase resiliency.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada created this program and all participants will receive a certificate of completion. Participants will be required to attend both days in order to receive a certificate.

ASIST is an interactive and practice-based course that teaches participants how to provide suicide first aid interventions. Through completion of the training, participants will be able to:
- understand how personal and societal beliefs and values impact views on suicide
- provide tailored guidance and suicide first aid
- identify an effective safety plan and know how to implement it
- recognize important components of suicide prevention
This workshop is not recommended for people who have had a recent suicide loss.

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a certified suicide prevention program. It supports people in learning to recognize signs of distress and builds awareness of suicide. We want to create a strong campus where people are educated and aware of how to support others.
This program includes a certificate of completion and can be used toward Social Work practicum hours.

safeTALK is a 3.5hour workshop that alerts one to warning signs that are indicating risk of suicide. At a safeTalk workshop, you’ll learn the importance of recognizing signs, communicating with the person at risk, and connecting them to intervention resources for further support.

Read sections of Brene Brown’s book Daring Greatly and join us for four online conversations that will help you to tap into your courage to live authentically. We will explore how to move from worry, perfectionism, numbing and self-criticism, to gratitude, acceptance, true comfort, and valuing self and others. Those who can commit to the three sessions will receive a copy of the book "Daring Greatly." Presented by Sonya Flessati and Paul Valenti. All sessions will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.

Harm Reduction and Naloxone Training is a two-hour training where participants learn about harm reduction practices, the current state of the opioid crisis in Alberta, and how to respond to an opioid poisoning. This includes how to administer naloxone, the medication used to reverse opioid poisonings. A certificate of completion is available for those that are interested.
