Personal information banks

According to section 87 of the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, public bodies must publish a directory that lists the personal information banks belonging to that organization.

Mount Royal University's personal information banks provide a general overview of the institution's departments, operations, and locations where personal information may reside.

A personal information bank is not intended to be a detailed or complete inventory of named individuals held at the public body. It is a tool designed to provide a general overview of the following items as prescribed by section 87.1(2) of the Act:

  • The title and location of the Personal Information Bank
  • A description of the kind of the personal information and the categories of individuals whose personal information is included
  • The legal authority for the collection of the personal information
  • The purposes for which the personal information was collected

Mount Royal University will make every effort to ensure that the institution's personal information banks are kept as current as possible and will ensure any required revisions will be included in the next publication of the directory as according to section 87.1(3)b of the Act.
