
Program highlights
High standards — train to the highest standards nationally with a curriculum that exceeds the Inter-Jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry-to-Practice. The Massage Therapy Program at Mount Royal University has been granted Preliminary Accreditation, the first step in the CMTCA accreditation process. Following a site visit to verify compliance with the standards, CMTCA will issue a final accreditation decision.
Hands-on experience ― apply your skills on a variety of clients and special populations in our supervised student-run practicum clinic and through community outreach opportunities
Scholarships — awarded annually based on academic excellence, including twelve $1,000 scholarships funded through the student practicum clinic
Further your education — graduates are eligible to receive transfer credit towards the Thompson Rivers University's Bachelor of Health Science and the University of Lethbridge's Bachelor of Health Science - Public Health. See more transfer opportunities.
Massage Therapists help people feel better and live better lives. Trained massage therapists assess clients, apply therapeutic massage techniques, and adapt treatments to promote rehabilitation and pain reduction.
The Mount Royal University Massage Therapy diploma, recognized by all four professional associations in Alberta — MTAA, NHPC, CMMOTA, CRMTA — presents a comprehensive approach to wellness with an emphasis on treating chronic and acute conditions. Train to the highest education and national training standards at MRU.
Integrating theory, practice and research, you will gain new skills in the health sciences, client assessment, biomechanics, neuroanatomy, orthopedic assessment, palpation and techniques.
Gain real-life experience through our student-run practicum clinic and community outreach opportunities. Diverse opportunities may include applying your training at special needs clinics, geriatric facilities, addictions facilities, with elite and professional sports teams, or in pediatric clinics.
