Scholarly Interests:

Rob Currie-Wood is an assistant professor of political science in the Department of Economics, Justice, and Policy Studies. He teaches about politics and governance, with a focus on political institutions in Canada and other advanced democracies. His research addresses questions about how political parties organize in Canada, engage citizens in democratic life, and represent the interests of the public. Currie-Wood is eager to supervise honours students interested in studying Canadian politics, Alberta politics, political parties, election campaigns, or representation.

Teaching Statement:

My teaching values are centred on preparing the next generation of civic leaders in Canada. I aim to foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment where students are encouraged to explore diverse perspectives. To support this, I blend lectures with in-class exercises, assign practical coursework that reflects real-world civic and professional challenges, and maintain an open-door policy to support student learning and success. I also encourage curiosity and open dialogue by reminding students that every question is valuable — the only missed opportunity is the one not voiced.
