Relationally, Chelsea is a mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunty, cousin, friend, lifelong learner, and educator. She is a mom of a teenaged son and two dogs. She lives in Cochrane, AB, and enjoys skiing, hiking, and camping. Chelsea has over 15 years of professional experience in K-12 and post-secondary education in the areas of student supports, Indigenous education, English language learning, and professional learning. For the past several years, Chelsea has been supporting learning at the systems level, as a Learning Specialist for the Rocky View School Division. Additionally, Chelsea has experience as a classroom teacher in grades 1-9, teaching in Alberta and the Yukon. Her teaching at the post-secondary level includes courses in teacher education and communications. Chelsea believes in inclusion when serving any learning group. She strives to not only create brave spaces but to also create a strong purpose. Her philosophy is a strengths-based approach to engagement. It includes all abilities, backgrounds, and viewpoints, and it relies on this diversity. Trusting relationships are crucial in learning and when learning is well-designed it creates opportunity, and it can impact lives by inspiring curiosity and innovation.
