Relevant Community Service
Lisa has been the Editor of Activate: The Journal of the Health and Physical Education Council of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, formerly known as the Runner, since 2021. This role involves recruiting writers, reviewing, assigning peer-review, and providing feedback regarding final edits for the annual publication. The readership of the journal includes physical and health education teachers in Alberta; however, the publication is available online, open-access, and features articles from researchers and teachers across the nation and internationally. https://www.hpec.ab.ca/activate
As Co-Chair of the Physical and Health Education (PHE) Canada Research Council Forum, Lisa leads an organizing committee that engages in double-blind peer review of abstract submissions, engages a keynote speaker, plans, and facilitates the annual Forum, as well as liaises with the Physical and Health Education (PHE) Canada main conference. https://phecanada.ca/events/2024-phe-canada-research-forum
In 2025, Lisa joined the Research Advisory Committee for Take me Outside, a non-profit organization that fosters nature connections within education (for students and teachers) on Turtle Island. https://takemeoutside.ca/
