On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025 the Staff and Faculty from The Department of Education welcomed a new group of teacher candidates to the Bachelor of Education - Elementary program. The first day of New Student Orientation started with a welcome ceremony from the Faculty of Health, Community and Education’s Dean’s office. As well as a presentation by MRU’s New Student Orientation Department about what to expect in the first six weeks of university.

The students made their way to the Riddell Library and Learning Centre with the help of the orientation leaders for the Education program’s orientation. The program’s Academic Advisor hosted a panel discussion about the first year field experience. Panel members included current second-year teacher candidates and a Professor who is teaching the introductory course this fall. Teacher candidates had time to ask their questions then made their way to an ice-breaker activity led by the department’s Education Undergraduate Society Executives. After getting to know each other the teacher candidates spent time writing a letter to themselves about their goals throughout the degree program. They will open that letter when they are ready to graduate at their final celebration of learning event.

Thank you to the new teacher candidates for attending this special day and to all of the department members who made this event possible!
