Jenna Jansen is a fourth-year teacher candidate in MRU's Bachelor of Education program who regularly tutors students with learning challenges at Sounds Apart and in the MRU Reads After School Literacy Enhancement program at Vista Heights School. In her own words:
I am so grateful to have been chosen to receive the Siobhan Isabella Reid Scholarship. I will be using these funds to assist my tuition fees to pay for my last year of university. In spring 2026, I will graduate as a teacher! I plan to work in a classroom for students with learning disabilities. I have always loved to learn but struggled to read. Last year in March 2024, I was tested for a learning disability and my results concluded that I am dyslexic. I want to use my diagnosis as an encouragement to my future students to show that it is possible to turn struggles into strengths. I currently work with students with learning disabilities and ADHD as a tutor which has been the most rewarding job. I am elated to see where my education journey takes me once I graduate in the spring.
