The Annual GFC Elections for 2023-2024 will commence in March for academic staff members to serve on GFC, GFC committees and non-GFC committees.

Term lengths are for 3-years (unless otherwise stated) and commence on July 1, 2023.
GFC members (including newly elected GFC members) are strongly encouraged to sit on at least one committee.
Election results will be posted in early May.

Election Process
Elections for academic staff member positions elected by Faculty Councils are managed by the Dean’s Office for the respective Faculty. They will determine their own election process and specific election start date.
All other elected positions as indicated in the document are managed by the University Secretariat and eligible candidates will be contacted directly. Elections for Committee leadership positions will commence once all GFC academic staff member positions, including ex officio positions, are confirmed.
Vacancies for the non-GFC committees, University Tenure and Promotion Committee (UTPC) and Sabbatical Leave Committee (SLC), will be conducted concurrently with the Committee member elections.
GFC and Committees Meeting Schedules (2023-24 and 2024-25)
If you are interested in a position, we recommend reviewing the upcoming meeting dates for the next two years here (also in the GFC Google Calendar) to ensure you can attend the meetings for GFC and/or the Committee you’d like to join.
Between September to May, GFC and the GFC Executive Committee have eight meetings, and GFC Committees have six meetings.

General Faculties Council (GFC)
Browse through GFC’s website to learn more about its membership composition and read through past agendas and meeting minutes.
The detailed meeting schedules posted here include the materials deadlines and distribution dates for the meeting packages. GFC meeting packages are distributed one week in advance of the meeting, and Committee meeting packages are distributed four business days in advance of the meeting.

GFC Committees
The GFC functions through a standing committee structure consisting of the following seven Committees that carry out much of the detailed work and recommend actions that the GFC should take. GFC members (including newly elected GFC members) are strongly encouraged to sit on at least one committee, which is also a way to increase members' understanding of GFC’s governing roles and accountabilities.
