The Sustainability Fair brings together the MRU community, local organizations, industry partners and sustainability leaders to explore ideas and actions that can help create a more sustainable future.

Featured Event: MRU’s 2026 Sustainability Forum

As part of the Sustainability Fair, the 2026 Sustainability Forum takes place October 6- 7.

This two-day event brings together students, faculty, campus change-makers, industry leaders and local NGOs to explore solutions to environmental and social challenges.

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Main Street, Level 1

Explore sustainability at MRU with local vendors, educational and industry representatives, interactive activities, games, giveaways, prizes and hands-on learning experiences.

Sun Spot-ting: Safe Solar Observing
Thursday, October 8 | East Gate Lawn

Join Dr. Stephen Jeans, students from ASTR 1101 and 1103, and astronomers from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Calgary Centre for a free solar observing event.

Safely view active sunspots while learning about the sky, space and ways we can enjoy and appreciate them sustainably. The event may run longer if weather conditions are favourable.

Employee Wellness: Indoor Edible Garden Workshop

Join Janet Melrose, Calgary's Cottage Gardener, for a hands-on workshop exploring how to grow fresh, edible food indoors year-round. From easy-to-grow microgreens and herbs to tomatoes and more, you'll learn practical techniques for creating an indoor edible garden and choosing a growing system that works for your space, time and interests.
