Teaching Statement:
My research is grounded in the creation of theatrical story and structure and has been taking an increasingly interdisciplinary approach: graphic novel, screenwriting and libretto. The writing process is one which moves from impulse to structure. Often an initial idea is filled with excitement but as the writer works to craft the story, this excitement can turn into frustration. This often leads to works being abandoned before meeting their potential. My goal is to empower artists through their instincts and give them the structural tools to best communicate their ideas.
