Paying tuition and fees - Undergraduate Students

Tuition and mandatory fees must be paid online. Payments for deposits, tuition and mandatory fees are still required by the posted deadlines.

Payment options

In-person tuition payments are not available. The easiest way to pay your fees is through online banking. There are two ways to make an online payment:

Online banking or telephone banking

  1. Log in to your bank website (e.g. TD Canada Trust, Royal Bank, etc.)
  2. Add ‘Mount Royal University - Tuition’ as a new payee (name will vary from bank to bank)
  3. Enter your MRU student ID number (201XXXXXX) as your Mount Royal account number
  4. Allow 2-3 business days for bank processing. Please note: If you pay on or before the deadline, your payment will be honoured, and you will not be deregistered from your courses.

Online credit card payment (Visa,MasterCard and Discover)

  1. Visit Mount Royal’s online payment platform (Plastiq) to make credit card payments.
  2. Allow for three business days for processing. Please note: If you are paying on the fee deadline, Plastiq will not give you an option for your payment to be processed within the same day. Choose the next available date. Your payment will be honoured, and you will not be deregistered from your courses.

MRU processes credit card payments using Plastiq, an independent third-party service provider. By clicking the provided link, and using Plastiq services, the users are bound by Plastiq Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which includes accepting to pay the credit card payments processing fees, as determined and applied by Plastiq. MRU is not affiliated with Plastiq in any way, and does not endorse their services. The user’s responsible for reviewing Plastiq Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, security standards and any other binding legal notices posted on their website. MRU does not guarantee the reliability of Plastiq services, which means that the users bear full responsibility for all payments processed on Plastiq website, until received by MRU. Any disputes arising from the use of their services, must be resolved directly with Plastiq.

International students - payment options

CIBC International Student Pay (preferred payment method for international students)

This is a secure online portal for international students to make payments in their local currency. The quote and payment instructions you receive are good for 72 hours (excluding weekends). There are no processing fees from CIBC or Mount Royal University. 

Your Mount Royal University Student ID is required.

Eligible payments include:
  • Full-year tuition and fees
  • Residence fees

Payable through CIBCTo get a quote and payment instructions:

  1. Select the country you are paying from and how much you want to transfer to Mount Royal
  2. Review the quote to see what the exchange amount will be
  3. Complete the required information
  4. You will receive detailed instructions and a reference code to deliver to your local bank within 72 hours (excluding weekends). Your bank will send the funds to Mount Royal through wire.

Payments will typically take 2-5 business days to be reflected on your student fee account. 

Due to the sanctions imposed by Canada, payments from the following countries are not accepted via CIBC International Student Pay at this time: Burma, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.

Pay by mail

  • Money orders are the only acceptable form of payment by mail
  • Personal cheques, post-dated payments and international money orders are not accepted. Do not send cash in the mail.
  • All payments (other than Residence Application Fees) should be mailed to:

Sponsored students

If you are a sponsored student and have been approved to have your tuition and mandatory fees billed to a third party (employer/sponsoring agency - Advancing Futures/Band), you must ensure that all proper documentation is forwarded to Financial Services before each fee deadline.

All sponsorship forms/letters are to be submitted to no later than 7 days before the term fee deadline. Any letters/forms submitted after this date may put the student at risk of being deregistered during the fee deadline.

Note: Any changes to program or registration status may affect your account balance. It is your responsibility to manage your account balance and payments. 

International students granted permanent residency must bring their permanent resident card or Confirmation of Permanent Residence letter to the Office of the Registrar on or before the fee deadline for the given semester. Once confirmation is received, tuition will be adjusted for the current and future semesters. If documentation is not received on or before the deadline, fees will only be adjusted for future semesters.

Fees are due on the dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Students are responsible for verifying and paying any outstanding balances by the fee deadline date.
