Paying tuition and fees - Undergraduate Students

Tuition and mandatory fees must be paid online. Payments for deposits, tuition and mandatory fees are still required by the posted deadlines.

Payment options

In-person tuition payments are no longer available. The easiest way to pay your fees is through online banking. Here are two ways to make an online payment:

Online banking or telephone banking

  1. Log in to your bank website (e.g. TD Canada Trust, Royal Bank etc.)
  2. Add ‘Mount Royal University - Tuition’ as a new payee (name will vary from bank to bank)
  3. Enter your MRU student ID number (201XXXXXX) as your Mount Royal account number
  4. Allow 2-3 business days for bank processing. Please note: If you pay on or before the deadline, your payment will be honoured and you will not be deregistered from your courses.

Online credit card payment (Visa and MasterCard)

  1. Log in to Plastiq
  2. Enter your email address to set up your account
  3. Select Mount Royal University as a payee
  4. Use your MRU student ID number as your Mount Royal account number
  5. Allow 2-3 business days for processing. Please note: If you are paying on the fee deadline, Plastiq will not give you an option for your payment to be processed within the same day.  Choose the next available date. Your payment will be honoured and you will not be deregistered from your courses.

Due to operational issues, Plastiq will no longer accept American Express, effective Feb.10, 2023.

Plastiq charges a convenience fee of 2.85% to your credit card (effective Sept.5, 2020). Visit Plastiq for more information.

Plastiq is an independent third party service provider that you can use to pay your tuition to Mount Royal University. Mount Royal University is not affiliated with Plastiq and does not endorse its services. Disputes regarding Plastiq's services must be resolved directly between Plastiq and the payee/student. Mount Royal University does not guarantee Plastiq's availability or services and use of Plastiq may result in delays in Mount Royal receiving payment. Students remain responsible for any payments which Plastiq fails to submit on their behalf. Your use of Plastic is solely at your own risk and it is your responsibility to review its terms of use, privacy policy, security standards, and any other legal notices. In no event shall Mount Royal University be responsible or liable for any direct or indirect losses or damages whatsoever, arising from your use of, reliance on, or inability to use, Plastiq. Questions or concerns with these charges should be directed to Plastiq. Ensure that you understand Plastiq's Terms of Service before using their services.

International students - payment options

CIBC International Student Pay (preferred payment method for international students)

This is a secure online portal for international students to make payments in their local currency. The quote and payment instructions you receive are good for 72 hours (excluding weekends). There are no processing fees from CIBC or Mount Royal University. 

Your Mount Royal University Student ID is required.

Eligible payments include:
  • Full-year tuition and fees
  • Residence fees

Payable through CIBCTo get a quote and payment instructions:

  1. Select the country you are paying from and how much you want to transfer to Mount Royal
  2. Review the quote to see what the exchange amount will be
  3. Complete the required information
  4. You will receive detailed instructions and a reference code to deliver to your local bank within 72 hours (excluding weekends). Your bank will send the funds through wire to Mount Royal.

Payments will typically take 2-5 business days to be reflected on your student fee account. 

Due to the sanctions imposed by Canada, payments from the following countries are not accepted via CIBC International Student Pay at this time: Burma, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Zimbabwe.

Pay by mail

  • Money orders are the only acceptable form of payment by mail
  • Personal cheques, post-dated payments and international money orders are not accepted. Do not send cash in the mail.
  • All payments (other than Residence Application Fees) should be mailed to:

Sponsored students

If you are a sponsored student and have been approved to have your tuition and mandatory fees billed to a third party (employer/sponsoring agency - Advancing Futures/Band), you must ensure that all proper documentation is forwarded to Financial Services before each fee deadline.

All sponsorship forms/letters are to be submitted to no later than 7 days prior to the term fee deadline. Any letters/forms submitted after this date may put the student at risk of being deregistered during the fee deadline.

Note: Any changes to program or registration status may affect your account balance. It is your responsibility to manage your account balance and payments. 

Fee deadlines

Fees are due on the dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Students are responsible for verifying and paying any outstanding balances by the fee deadline date. 

Spring 2023

Summer 2023

Fall 2023
