BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Leslie Salgado Arzuaga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Design at Mount Royal University. She holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, where her research examined how narratives about AI in health express and shape ethical concerns and sociotechnical controversies that influence the development and adoption of AI in healthcare and public health in Canada. Currently, she focuses on public perceptions of science and technology in intersection with communication design.

Dr. Salgado Arzuaga has worked with international organizations including UNESCO, Oxfam, and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), bringing extensive experience in designing communication interventions that translate science, health, AI policy, and the social dimensions of emerging technologies for broad public audiences.

As an instructor, she emphasizes nurturing curiosity and critical thinking in her students as essential elements of designing and developing effective communication interventions.
