BIOGRAPHY

My journalism career has taken me from Ottawa to Iqaluit to the Rockies -- and many places in between! Before joining MRU full-time, I spent a decade travelling the country as a reporter, producer, and host for radio, TV, and online (CBC, iPolitics, CTV, Banff Centre Radio, CKUA). My podcasting work has won awards such as the 2025 Rosie Award for Best Podcast (AMPIA), the 2025 International Women’s Podcast Award runner-up for Comedy Gold, and the 2021 Gold Quill Award of Merit (IABC). In 2020, I was named one of Avenue Calgary's 40 under 40 for my work in media education.

TEACHING and RESEARCH

Currently, I teach courses in audio and multimedia production (JOUR 1727 Digital Storytelling, JOUR 2727 Podcasting Workshop and JOUR 4729 Advanced Multimedia/Audio Projects) as well as COMM 4403 Media Entrepreneurship.

I’m interested in how media makers can better serve their communities through work that is openly accessible, ethical and inclusive. I explore these questions through practice-based research, working with students, faculty and members of our broader community to tell their stories in ways that reflect their communities, their values, and their lived experience. Currently, I’m co-leading a team of research assistants from MRU and MacEwan University working in knowledge mobilization, supporting Indigenous researchers and those working with Indigenous communities to explore ways to share their findings with the public while respecting community rights, knowledge and protocols.
