Dr. Murdoch McKinnon is an ecohydrologist specialized in quantifying and understanding the linkages between hydrology, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem development. Much of his research is conducted on disturbed boreal landscapes, where he contributes to the development and assessment of novel reclamation and mitigation techniques for use in the natural resources sector. He also examines the resilience of established and novel reclamation techniques to disturbances including climate change and wildfire. Murdoch holds a BSc in Environmental Science from Mount Royal University and a PhD in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Waterloo. Beyond research, Murdoch is passionate about sharing his love for ecology and environmental science with his students, and making complex environmental concepts accessible to communities, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
