Aresh joined MRU in 2024, where he teaches courses in operating systems, networking, and network science. His research centers on data-driven modeling of emerging communication networks and the optimal control of spreading processes in complex networks. His work has received support through NSERC, SSHRC and FDRP grants, and he welcomes inquiries from motivated students interested in these areas.

Before joining MRU, Aresh held research appointments in the Department of Computing Science and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta. Earlier, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, from 2017 to 2022.
