Before joining Mount Royal University, Jalil conducted research in biomedical engineering and data science, focusing on machine learning models for biomedical imaging and brain connectivity using fMRI. He earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary, where he developed methods to reconstruct physiological waveforms from fMRI data, and previously completed a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering in Iran. His work bridges computational modeling with practical biomedical applications to advance both scientific understanding and clinical practice.
At MRU, Jalil is passionate about teaching and mentoring, integrating advanced data science techniques—such as machine learning and MLOps—into his courses to prepare students for applying computational methods to real-world challenges in science, health, and technology.
